Nick Gibson, Headteacher commented ‘We are extremely proud of our students and we are celebrating another excellent set of GCSE results of which our school can feel justifiably proud. The school shares the success of these results with the pupils who worked hard to achieve their targets and the magnificent support of the staff and our parents. Schools do not succeed in isolation and any credit should be shared equally. ‘
Despite the various national changes to the exam system, results have improved again on last year. Overall a fantastic 94% achieved a grade 4 (standard grade C) and above in English and 81% have achieved a grade 4 (standard grade C) and above in Maths. 77% of our pupils achieved 5+ GCSE including English and Maths at grade 4/C and above, with 4.6% of pupils achieving the new grade 9, a great achievement which is well above the national average!
Virtually all achieved results to gain places to pursue their post 16 studies or work-based training. We celebrate the success of all our pupils which reflects the high expectations, the quality of teaching, the support and leadership of the governing body and, last but certainly not least, the endeavours of our pupils.
The GCSE achievements complement our recent excellent Sixth Form International Baccalaureate and BTEC results where the average point score was the equivalent of three A* at A- Level.
